Facing Uncertainty and Hopelessness

“Now the earth was formless and void, darkness was over the surface of the deep and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” Genesis 1:2

Many a times in our lives we go through seasons of formlessness, emptiness and darkness. Seasons when the current does not make sense and the future seems uncertain. I want you to take heart!

The spirit of God is at work. We tend to be intimated by darkness and uncertainty. However, in Genesis 1:2 we see that darkness prevailed but God was not affected by it. Instead he was brooding over it - planning, designing, hovering, and ideating.

Darkness prevailed but God was not affected by it. Instead he was brooding over it - planning, designing, hovering, and ideating.

The next verses talk about creation and its beauty!

Jonah, the prophet was swallowed alive by a “great fish”, “and Jonah was inside the fish 3 days and 3 nights.” Jonah 1:17

3 days of darkness, uncertainty, fear, maybe regret. Awaiting death with the stomach acid slowly eating into his skin, Jonah decided to worship God in the midst of it all. “Salvation comes from the Lord” Jonah 2:8 Wow!

Little did he know that his life, its purpose, his calling and God’s plan for his life was still intact. 1. In 3 days, the fish would spit him out on “dry ground” 2. He clearly heard God and the details of his next assignment from God 3. He obeyed God and delivered God’s message to Nineveh 4. An entire city repented and turned to God

Not only is there light at the end of your dark tunnel. There is freedom, guidance and purpose. You destiny awaits you. Press on! About the Author:
